The profiles in the department are organized in different ways, and the difference is not in the photo but in how the meeting is arranged. Some receive in an apartment of their own, almost always in the capital, and others travel to wherever you are. Each ad states the arrangement, the locality it is run from, the time slot and the expected duration. In a department where the towns are separated by stretches of countryside, the locality is not a detail on the profile: it is the first thing that decides whether a profile is of any use to you.
The offering is entirely independent: there are no agencies or reception houses, because the scale does not support them. Florida is the only city in the department with more than thirty thousand inhabitants, and the next one, Sarandí Grande, does not reach a fifth of that figure. Whoever posts manages her own schedule and sets her own conditions with no one in between. The closeness to Montevideo, a little over an hour along Route 5, explains the turnover: there are profiles based in the area and others who come up for a few days.
The hours appear in each ad and vary quite a lot. Florida, the departmental capital and with constant traffic along Route 5, keeps activity going later than the rest of the department; in the small towns the night ends early and arranging something in the small hours is exceptional. There is also a rhythm of its own: in the middle of the dairy basin the work on the dairy farms starts before dawn, and that shifts the available slots towards midday and the early part of the night. Along the highway, on the other hand, long-distance buses and trucks pass at all hours.
What sets the department apart is how the territory is divided. The Cuchilla Grande splits the department into two slopes: to the north everything drains to the Río Yí, the boundary with Durazno, and to the south towards the Santa Lucía Chico, which runs through the city of Florida. On that slope stands the Paso Severino dam, the main drinking water reserve for Montevideo and its metropolitan area. The populated axis follows Route 5, with Florida and Sarandí Grande; to the east, Route 7 orders another strip, with Casupá, Fray Marcos and Cerro Colorado.
Some profiles offer longer formats and say so in their description: company for a dinner, outings of several hours or dates booked in advance. Those requests are concentrated on the dates that bring people in from outside, and the department has a marked calendar. On 3 June, San Cono draws thousands of people from all over the country to the capital, a devotion of Italian origin that has been celebrated there since 1885. On 25 August, the ceremonies for the Declaration of Independence, proclaimed at the Piedra Alta, fill the city again.
The home service works differently than in a big city. Here the trip is not measured in blocks but in kilometers of highway, and much of the department is dairy farms and estancias far from any urban centre. That is why the ads usually state how far they travel, and many limit their radius to the surroundings of their locality or to the Route 5 axis. The lodgings along the highway are the most common option for those who arrive for work. Stating your location in the first message saves half the back and forth.
Contact is made by WhatsApp, directly with the person who publishes, without the site stepping in. To keep the arrangement short it helps to have four points settled: where you are, what arrangement you are looking for, at what time and for how long. If you arrive without a vehicle, the return timetable conditions the whole date: Florida has constant services to Montevideo and to the north, and the long-distance ones pass through Sarandí Grande. In cities where most people know each other, moreover, the address is only given once the meeting is confirmed.
The difference between the two cities in the listing is not one of quality but of how they work. In the capital there are more stable schedules and private apartments by appointment. In Sarandí Grande the visit to wherever you are predominates, and much of what is published depends on short tours along the Florida-Sarandí Grande-Durazno axis.
For anyone passing through, the department is above all a corridor. Route 5 crosses it from end to end on the way to Rivera, and the junction with Route 56, in Florida, is the usual reference point for travellers. It is the strip where the meeting is arranged with the least friction.
Each profile describes what the person offers and on what conditions: age, area, time slot, duration, services and whether she travels. It is worth reading it in full before writing. The site publishes the ads; the conditions are set by each companion, and whatever does not appear there is not taken as included.
It is worth looking at the calendar before arranging anything. San Cono at the beginning of June, the ceremonies of 25 August and Semana de Turismo are the moments when the capital fills up and schedules close well in advance. For the rest of the year the pace is set by dairy farming and farm work.
